Road Rash By:mark Huntley Parsons

Road rash is a very interesting book about a boy named Zach, who was part of a musical band called “The Sock Monkeys” . The lead singer Is Toby , who Zach describes as a rock-star wannabe. Toby acts self-centered and very much sarcastic. To Zach, a band is about sticking together , to be honest they are not really the best band around, “Bad Habit” is the best band around the town , Glenn Taylor is the best guitarist around. Everyone knew that they were actually going to get somewhere . So when Glenn Taylor compliments Zach on his talent and offers him an opportunity , and Zach turns him down . You could tell that Zach isn’t making the best choices. As soon , as “ The sock Monkeys” kicked him out for a downgraded drum player , Zach raced back to “ Bad Habit” to continue his music career. The outcome of joining
“Bad Habit” is going on tour with them . The question is will the result be good or bad?

One of the conflicts in the book was in the beginning when Toby, the leader of “The Sock Monkeys” , decided that Zach didn’t need to be on the band any more and kicked him out. For Zach that day was very inimical because his best friend, Kyle, backed him up but didn’t really do much so that Zach could stay in the band. The second conflict that appeared in the book was when Zach had already started to get comfortable around the band members and then, Brad, the lead singer started to condemn Zach’s drum playing. Another major conflict for the heroine was Jamie, she had a long-lasting crush on Glenn Taylor and although it may not seem, this was a conflict because in a way it affected Glenn Taylor. therefore affecting Zach.

Don't Buy Nike

The argument being made is that "Nike" is being accused with using sweatshops in Indonesia. they pay the workers minimum wage , which is 1.25 a day that covers the basic needs , but if they seek hygiene products. They would have to go hungry, if they want those products. The type of evidence they give in this article is that the workers have endured physical abuse which consists of kicking, slapping, and being made stand under the hot sun for  making a mistake at work. Personally, i think that even the idea of using sweatshops is revolting and only people that are filled with greed would use them. Another reason why i believe this article is because many of the workers in Indonesia joined a union to defend the workers , but sadly were rejected and robbed from their rights.

The argument being made in the poem is that the workers just work and work. They act as though they were machines. The way the article shows their evidence is that they present the workers feelings .
The difference between the poem and the article is that in the article you can just read the facts but you don't really come in contact with the feeling but in the poem you can actually feel  the pain that they feel.
