Matched By:Allyson Condie

This is a trilogy by Allyson Braithwaite Condie about a girl in a different society than ours, a stricter society, a society where the person you will be with for the rest of your life is chosen for you at the age of 17. Cassia Reyes is 17 and standing on a platform waiting for her match to be chosen , much to her surprise her match is her best-friend Xander. Except much to her surprise when she puts the disk that contains all of her partner's information, inside the console, it isn't Xander's face that shows up, instead an unfamiliar aberration that goes  by the name of Ky Markham. When a restricted relationship evolves boundaries are broken and hearts are broken.
When Cassia and Ky first started hanging out i thought that it was fine but when Cassia started finding out her feelings for Ky, i predicted that they were going to get caught. Also, at the beginning of the book when Cassia was denying her feelings towards Ky i predicted that sometime in the future of the book they were going to discover their feelings for each other, Another prediction that i had was that Xander was going to discover their relationship when they were kissing but my prediction was incorrect.

The Devil's Arithmetic By: Jane Yolen

Hannah is a young girl around our age. She has taken her families experiences for  granted and hasn't really learned from them. When she is sucked into an experience that shows her the actual things that her grandparents have gone through, she slowly starts regretting her feelings of resentment of having to hear her grandparents stories. She's been worked to the bone and has been belittled so many times. Slowly throughout the book her memory fades and the worst thing is that she doesn't know if she will remember her past. After, that experience is over she knows what it's like to be humiliated and bullied in more than one way.
In the beginning of the book, she explains how when she was a child she thought that the tattoo on her grandfather's arm was really cool , but she didn't know what it meant. When she attempted to create the same tattoo on her forearm and showed it to her grandfather, he exploded. Later in the book, she had an Aha- Moment , when she got one of her own tattoo's she realized what each number stood for.

Holocaust Post

In my opinion , Hitler did everything to put fear in the life of the German citizens , and he succeeded because as he was killing anyone and everything that wasn't German , people stood by and watched. The fear impacted them so harshly that they were scared for their lives. The person that was supposed to care for the citizens of Germany was inflicting a subtle death amongst them and the people they held close to their heart. That is the main reason for why people became bystanders, they had a subtle death threat above their deaths. On the other hand, his attempt at inflicting fear didn't work on everybody. Some people rose to the occasion and fought for the lives of other people. Most of the time these people were submitted into torture and death , the idea that someone could have the idea  so evil that they want to wipe out an entire race hit people so hard in the chest that they had to feel the impulse to stand up for the people that were being victimized.

The Future of Us By: Asher & Mackler

Emma had a broken friendship and a growing relationship, after her best friend Josh declared his love for her , she pushed him away and they ignored each other for 6 months. Her boyfriend is taking things too far all the time and she wants it to be over. When Josh gives her a piece of the future she struggles to keep in her curiosity. This book takes place in 1996, and as they switch things around they find out what makes them happy and what doesn't .
I would read this book again because all the fiction. It was sort of science fiction, but on the other hand , it was more fictional . I liked how Facebook right now is a current trend and we don't see it as weird we see it as the normal thing but in 1996 it wasn't the normal thing. So it gives us a different perspective to the trending website.

Road Rash By:mark Huntley Parsons

Road rash is a very interesting book about a boy named Zach, who was part of a musical band called “The Sock Monkeys” . The lead singer Is Toby , who Zach describes as a rock-star wannabe. Toby acts self-centered and very much sarcastic. To Zach, a band is about sticking together , to be honest they are not really the best band around, “Bad Habit” is the best band around the town , Glenn Taylor is the best guitarist around. Everyone knew that they were actually going to get somewhere . So when Glenn Taylor compliments Zach on his talent and offers him an opportunity , and Zach turns him down . You could tell that Zach isn’t making the best choices. As soon , as “ The sock Monkeys” kicked him out for a downgraded drum player , Zach raced back to “ Bad Habit” to continue his music career. The outcome of joining
“Bad Habit” is going on tour with them . The question is will the result be good or bad?

One of the conflicts in the book was in the beginning when Toby, the leader of “The Sock Monkeys” , decided that Zach didn’t need to be on the band any more and kicked him out. For Zach that day was very inimical because his best friend, Kyle, backed him up but didn’t really do much so that Zach could stay in the band. The second conflict that appeared in the book was when Zach had already started to get comfortable around the band members and then, Brad, the lead singer started to condemn Zach’s drum playing. Another major conflict for the heroine was Jamie, she had a long-lasting crush on Glenn Taylor and although it may not seem, this was a conflict because in a way it affected Glenn Taylor. therefore affecting Zach.

Don't Buy Nike

The argument being made is that "Nike" is being accused with using sweatshops in Indonesia. they pay the workers minimum wage , which is 1.25 a day that covers the basic needs , but if they seek hygiene products. They would have to go hungry, if they want those products. The type of evidence they give in this article is that the workers have endured physical abuse which consists of kicking, slapping, and being made stand under the hot sun for  making a mistake at work. Personally, i think that even the idea of using sweatshops is revolting and only people that are filled with greed would use them. Another reason why i believe this article is because many of the workers in Indonesia joined a union to defend the workers , but sadly were rejected and robbed from their rights.

The argument being made in the poem is that the workers just work and work. They act as though they were machines. The way the article shows their evidence is that they present the workers feelings .
The difference between the poem and the article is that in the article you can just read the facts but you don't really come in contact with the feeling but in the poem you can actually feel  the pain that they feel.
